Description

Yeaaah... this started out very funny.

:iconbass-pick: an I were having fun. We were talking about cheesy Alice fanfictions that always have happy ends and that are overstuffed with romance. While talking I was scribbling this pose... I added the rock and the river and we were like 'Oh, if this would be a fanfiction, there would be a Jabberwock coming out from behind the tree, trying to eat alice!' Yes, there actually was a stick-figure Alice, being threatened by the Jabberwock, that's why it looks kinda angry there... We added Charlie on a flamingo, on his way to rescue Alice from the Jabberwock, but Jack was behind him on another flamingo, shooting him down so that he could rescue Alice himself. But we figured he wouldn't be in time. HatterTepps was just supposed to look sexy in the foreground. Haha. It was really just a funny piece of sh*t in the beginning, but :iconbass-pick: thought this would be epic in colour, so I started painting the background. We decided Alice would be too small to draw there, so we just put her into one of the beatle thing's boxes and that's it. C: That means she's still there, officially.

I have to admid, I'm kinda proud of how the beatle thing and the casino turned out. :boogie:

I know the casino doesn't stand in the water, the city does, but it's just ment to be smbolic, not logical. The chess figures are ment to represent the city of knights, the tree and the Jabberwock stand for that forest... the lake thing... The cloudy, dark city... The scary beatle thing.... All that stuff. Yay for overstuffed pictures. <3
I was trying to set a contrast between the dark city and the hidden forest... like poluted and pure, you know.

Darn, I forgot Mad March. D=

And I think most of my rambling was reaaally bad english. I'm not really paying attention right now. 0__o

Anyways... Alice, Wonderland, Jabber the Wock, the casino, the city, the grass, the tiny flamingos in the sky and all that stuff don't belong to me. Tepps does. C:

You may enjoy.
Oh, and it was really a pain in the arse and a lot of work, so a little critique would be really nice. C:

Wow. Like. Yeah. Wow. I love this concept. Good fanart is sometimes hard to find when it's a liveaction thing. Lotsa photomanips and such. I understood everything in your long explanation-artist's comments, and it made the picture all the more wonderful to look at. Not only that, but I think the picture was a great representation of all the symbolism you explained. Hence the vision rating.

Originality. Well. To be honest, fanart isn't really original, but the concept is very. Hell, the whole Alice thing was a bit unoriginal considering it was based (loosely, might I add) on the novel. Still, Syfy added enough twists to make this a lot more creative and ngdfjdkgdawesome than it could have been. Your picture is, I guess technically, a fanart for a fanwork of a work. Hence a slightly lower Originality score.

Your technique. I don't know how or what you did but it's pretty. You made this pretty. I like pretty. It's good. The texture is interesting, but it attracts me to the sky, where it's more noticeable. That's kinda distracting. Somehow, the overcrowded-ness of the picture did nothing if not more to make me stare at the picture of more than a few minutes. I also think the very shimmery spots on the water appear to 'float' a bit. It looks out of place, almost. Things that are further back, or something. I'm really not an art expert, but it just seems a bit off, or distracting. The shimmer looks better in the stream at the front. The grass is delicious. So. So delicious.

Impact. Dude it's Syfy's Alice fanart. Not a screenshot in sight. It has the friggin' Jabberwocky. Jabberwock. Jab- yeah. I love it. Your explanations give it more of a meaning, which only increases the impact of this picture on my face. Up up with your score, up more!

Now that that's done, I can freely fansqueal, right? I love this. I really really love it. This makes me want to go back and rewatch the movie/event/thing, and I think that's what good fanart should do. I mean, there aren't Hatter-foxes in the show, but it's got every aspect of the show in it. It's just so... asdfghjkl;!

Everything aside, you put Alice in the crate, conveniently packaged for all your throw-karate-expert-at needs! That's a winner.

You're a winner.
